With Father’s Day coming up next month, now is the time to get started on a project for that special guy!
Here’s a roundup of ten fun to sew projects for Dad that he will actually use! 🙂
1. The Leather Wallet from Oh Sweet Joy
Simple and utilitarian, this is a great idea for the no-frills dad and is a great beginning project for sewing with leather!
2. The Fabric Wallet from The Sewing Directory
Another nice tutorial with lots of pictures to make a simple wallet that can hold lots of stuff!
3. Grilling Apron from Purl Soho
This is a nice and simple apron that can be made with grilling or cooking in mind, or if you make it out of a heavier cotton or canvas material, can even be a workshop apron!
4. Men’s Necktie from Sweet Shop Sewing
What’s Father’s Day without the ties! 🙂 Make it in a traditional fabric or a crazy fun fabric that is as unique as your dad!
5. Men’s Button Down Shirt from Melly Sews
This pattern is in a small/medium but she also gives instructions on her site for how to grade (or size up) a pattern, and a button up shirt would be a great project to learn on and an awesome gift for dad!
6. The Boxy Dopp Kit from The Cottage Mama
Great for traveling or trips to the gym, this is a great looking and useful bag!
7. The Safari Duffle Bag from Sew4Home
This is a really great pattern (I had a student who made this and the pattern was easy to follow and understand and the bag looked great!).
8. Lanyard by Anne Marie Chany
This is a great and simple project for beginners (or even kids!) to make for dad!
9. Sunglasses Case by The Sewing Loft
This is a great project for beginners and can be made out of a more manly fabric than the above picture! 🙂
10. iPad case by We All Sew
Here’s a great project that you can do with or without the grommets and name plate!
Lots of ideas to think about and start making!!! 🙂
Happy sewing!!!
